5 Handy Ikea Hacks For Your Shed

If you spend any amount of time browsing Pinterest, you’re likely to stumble upon a few “IKEA hacks”. IKEA hacks for your bathroom, IKEA hacks for your kitchen, IKEA hacks for your entryway… the list goes on and on. Our personal favorite here at New England Rent to Own just happens to be IKEA hacks for your storage shed. Keep on reading and you’ll see why!

1. Custom workbench

This attractive workbench is both customizable and budget-friendly. The industrial style drawer pulls are a nice touch too, available on Amazon for less than $12 for a pack of two.

2. Shelving system

As you can see in the photo above, their sizing (available in two sizes around 30x12x67”) makes them a perfect fit for sheds. Additional shelves can also be purchased if you’re in need of extra storage for smaller items.

3. Knob rack

When you’re in a hurry and need to grab a ring of keys from your shed, the last thing you want is to frantically dig through messy bins and containers. A rack with knobs will keep you from this situation.

The IKEA LURT / GUBBARP rack (don’t ask us how they come up with these names) starts at just $4.26. Knobs can also be switched out with other styles available from the IKEA kitchen range.

4. Magnetic Rack

You’ve probably seen magnetic knife racks hanging in kitchens before, but how about in a shed? These handy racks can make storing tools a breeze. Simply mount the KUNGSFORS magnetic knife rack from IKEA and your screwdrivers and tools will have a home. Go a step further by gluing washers to empty containers. Learn how in the following video.

5. Hidden Storage

By now it should come as no surprise that another one of IKEA’s pieces can be used for far more than they were originally designed for. TRONES shoe cabinets are perfect for shed storage since they are shallow and can be stacked on a wall. You could even cover a whole wall in these for sleek and modern storage.

A tip for New Englanders: There are IKEA retail stores in both New Haven, Connecticut and Stoughton, Massachusetts. If you’re in Maine, the drive might be worthwhile if you have a vehicle that can haul furniture since shipping charges from IKEA can be steep.
